Our Story

Born from Passion.
Built on Thread.

A small room in Chennai. A needle, some fabric, and a big dream to bring authentic Indian textiles closer to every home.

We Preserve
Indian Heritage

Kala Vasthra began in a small room in Chennai, with a needle, some fabric, and a big dream — to bring the beauty of authentic Indian textiles closer to every home.

Founded by a passionate textile lover and master tailor, Kala Vasthra started as a small saree collection shared among friends and family. Word spread quickly. People loved the quality, the personal touch, and the care that went into every piece.

Today, Kala Vasthra is more than a store. It's a community of women (and men!) who love Indian fashion, who want to learn the art of stitching, and who believe that clothing is an expression of culture, heritage, and identity.

Our courses have helped hundreds of students start their own tailoring businesses. Our sarees have graced weddings, festivals, and everyday moments across India. And we're just getting started.
